I am Sachiko Nakata (Borowik), a freelance Japanese translator and interpreter (DPSI) based in London.

I describe myself as an ardent language enthusiast and I strive to perfect my language skills and aptitude both in Japanese and English. I hold DPSI (Diploma in Public Service Interpreting) in English Law, an Ofqual-acredited first degree-level qualification. I am also an Associate of CIOL, the UK-based independent professional membership association for practising translators, interpreters and language service businesses. My professional membership means that I have a proven track record in the chosen language field and specialism.

My passion has always been language and literatures since I was young.

I began my career in translation and interpreting in 2014 after spending 8 years in travel industry both in Tokyo and London, during which I took three short courses for translation. Throughout the time of working as a travel agent, I acquired communication and schedule management skills, which are vital assets for my current profession.

In late summer of 2014, I had finally seized an opportunity to provide my first interpreting to a global spirits merchant for their annual business meeting. I felt empowered by the crucial role I played and found the profession I had always wished for.

In 2016, I have successfully passed Eiken 1st grade, the highest grade of English proficiency test recognised in Japan.

I hold AA in American English and aim to obtain MA in Interpreting by 2020.
