I am Sachiko Nakata (Borowik), a freelance Japanese translator and interpreter based in London.
I describe myself as an ardent language enthusiast and I strive to perfect my language skills and aptitude both in Japanese and English. I am an Associate of ITI, the UK-based independent professional membership association for practising translators, interpreters and language service businesses.
My passion has always been language and literatures since I was young.
I began my career in translation and interpreting only in 2014 after spending 8 years in travel industry both in Tokyo and London, during which I took two short courses for translation preparing for my future career. Throughout the time of working as a travel agent, I acquired communication and schedule management skills, which are relevant assets especially when working on large translation projects.
In late summer of 2014, I had finally seized an opportunity to provide my first interpreting to a global spirits merchant for their annual business meeting. I felt empowered by the crucial role I played and found the profession I had always wished for.
In 2016, I have successfully passed the highest grade in Eiken, English proficiency test recognized in Japan.
Most recently, I have studied for DPSI (Diploma in Public Service Interpreting) in the context of English Law. In June and November 2017, I have taken numerous DPSI examinations (simultaneous/consecutive interpreting, sight translation, written translation) and I am waiting to hear the result in February 2018.
I hold AA in American English and aim to obtain MA in Interpreting by 2020.
